Adjectives are words that describe and give more information about nouns and pronouns.

Adjectives can tell us about:

colour: pink, orange

size: thick, thin

shape: square, oval

quality: evil, kind


Adjectives can be compared in three forms: positive, comparative and superlative:

Regular adjectives:

I think the teacher is nice, but my granny is nicer, and my best friend is the nicest.

Longer adjectives:

The first movie was fantastic, but the next one was even more fantastic, and the last one was the most fantastic ever.

Irregular adjectives:

The weather was bad this morning, and in the afternoon it got worse, but the weather forecast says the worst weather will arrive at midnight.
